Waiting For God by The Hospital Players
A comedy by Michael Aitkens
The Hospital Players are Scunthorpe’s oldest amateur dramatics society and, as our name suggests, we have enjoyed a lengthy association with the local hospital. The group was founded during the Second World War by fire watchers and staff who decided to put on a play to raise money for the hospital which, before the introduction of the NHS, depended on voluntary contributions. We carry on this original objective by donating to The Hospital League of Friends each year.
All the favourite characters from the original 90s TV series are reimagined for the 21st century, facing the challenges that come with growing old disgracefully in the era of the silver surfer. At Bayview Retirement Village, battle-axe extraordinaire Diana Trent conspires with new resident Tom Ballard to give the conniving manager his comeuppance through a hilarious conspiracy with unexpectedly heartwarming results.
Tickets will be collection from the Box Office and can only be collected from one hour before show start time. Seats will be allocated on arrival.
