About this event

On 6 June 2024, the world will mark the last major D-Day anniversary alongside Veterans of the Normandy Campaign. Exactly 80 years on, we will honour and remember.

‘D-Day 80: Remembering the Normandy Landings’ presented by Davina McCall, will be a unique evening of music-led storytelling reflecting on the beginning of the end of the Second World War.

The anniversary event will feature the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Mike Dixon and Veterans of the Normandy Campaign, plus performances by Katherine Jenkins, Emeli Sandé, Lulu and lead vocalist of The D-Day Darlings, Katie Ashby. The show will also feature untold personal stories through letters and diary entries read by famous faces from stage and screen.

The event will be filmed for television, to be broadcast on ITV at 4pm on Sunday 9 June.

The charity partner for this event is the British Normandy Memorial, which opened in June 2021. The Memorial, which stands in Normandy overlooking Gold Beach, holds the names of the 22,442 service personnel serving under British Command who died on D-Day and during the Battle of Normandy.

D-Day 80: Remembering the Normandy Landings is sponsored by Ancestry and produced jointly by The Makers Of and TBI Media.
