Retiring in 2009 with an undefeated record of 46-0, Joe Calzaghe is a boxing legend who reigned as a world champion throughout his career. In 2007, he earned the prestigious Sports Personality of the Year award, and in 2008, he was honored with a CBE. His ten-year tenure as WBO Super Middleweight Champion, with 20 successful title defenses, set a record for the longest reign in boxing history. Calzaghe also unified three of the major world titles (WBA, WBC, and WBO) at super middleweight and was the first Ring champion in that division.

From 2006 to 2008, Calzaghe was recognized as one of the world’s top ten active boxers by The Ring magazine. As of 2022, BoxRec ranks him as the 24th greatest fighter of all time, pound-for-pound, and the second-greatest European boxer ever.
